Carmarthenshire Youth Council was established in September 2003, by young people for young people. Since this time it has continued to grow and develop.

The Council consists of 30 enthusiastic young people from Carmarthenshire who are aged between 14-25 years. 

 

 What is CYC’s Role?
We aim to be the voice for the views of young people in Carmarthenshire... by creating opportunities for young people to participate meaningfully in decision making on issues that impact on their lives and to bring about positive change.
“We believe that young people have a right to be heard and their views and opinions should be treated as equal to adults.”

What is the Aim?
to benefit all young people in Carmarthenshire who are aged 11 to 25 years old.
to be a voice for all young people in Carmarthenshire.
to bring about positive change and development.
to create opportunities for young people to become involved in decision making / democratic processes within the Authority, national and international level


Members are elected on to Carmarthenshire Youth Council from the six Area Youth Fora within the authority area (Amman, Gwendraeth, Llanelli, Taf Myrddin, Tywi and Teifi) Each Youth Fora has 5 representatives. Anyone aged 11 – 25 years can become a member of their Local Youth Forum.
