The Sports Development Unit has in place partnership agreements with Five National Governing Bodies of Sport.

These partnership agreements outline the NGB and Council’s responsibilities with regards to the employment of a Sports Specific Development Officer.
  
Agreements are in place with the:

• Welsh Hockey Union
• Welsh Canoeing Association
• Welsh Rugby Union
• Football Association of Wales Trust
• Welsh Netball Association

The Sports Specific Officers have in place a work programme which highlights the key areas of work that are the focus of both partners, for example:

1. Increasing the number of Young People taking part in Sport and Physical Activity,
2. Increasing the number of Women and Girls taking part in Sport and Physical Activity
3. Supporting the Voluntary Sector

These partnership agreements varying in duration, but are usually for a three year fixed tem period. Renewal of these agreements are subject to the performance of the individual officer’s as well as the key areas of work remaining a priority for both parties.
