Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Canoeing Association have been working in partnership to develop Water Sports in the County for over six years.

The Officer is based Llandysul Canoe Centre.

The overall aim of the Water Sports Development Officer is to develop and promote Water and Paddle Sports in the County.
  
More specific objectives are as follows:

• To establish a development plan for the County
• To increase the number of young people taking part in water based activity and specifically Paddle sport, on a regular basis
• Working in Partnership with schools, youth organisations and clubs to provide opportunities for young people to participate in Water and Paddle sports
• To establish and assist clubs in their development
• To organise and implement activities an, events and competitions
• To plan and implement a coach education programme to underpin all associated development work
