Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Football Trust have been working in partnership to develop football in the County for over ten years.
The overall aim of the Football Development Officer is to (devise and implement a local football plan in line with the Welsh Football Trust guidelines and increase the opportunities and standards for all players male and female, beginner or elite in support of National Teams.)
To devise and facilitate the planning, implementation and monitoring of a County plan for Football in line with the Welsh Football Trust and Carmarthenshire County Council targets and priorities.
This plan should encompass club development as well as playing, coaching and competitive opportunities in Carmarthenshire that should result in increase of participation and improvement of standards.
More specific objectives are as follows:
- Increase participation through a structured programme of Fun Football and accredited schemes and clubs.
- Organise Coach Education courses on a countywide availability.
- Develop the existing local structure through the implementation of the FAW sanctioned initiatives for junior football - Club Accreditation which is now mandatory throughout Wales.
- To establish and develop new girls teams within existing clubs or as new clubs.
- Establish and develop links with primary and secondary schools within the Authority implementing the highly successful McDonalds Scheme.
- Promote Association Football throughout the Authority via local media.
- To provide advice and guidance on club development and funding opportunities to all Accredited Football clubs in the County
1. To identify, co-ordinate and deliver, where necessary, training for coaches, umpires, teachers, welfare officers, parents and other volunteers using the football education training programmes or generic training programmes
2. To work in partnership with local Sports Development Officers, the Active Young People team and local education representatives to ensure football complements and links with other sports development opportunities as well as proactively identifying new partners to further develop opportunities
3. To co-ordinate the organisation and implementation of Development Centres to support the progress of talented players in the local authority.
4. To monitor and co-ordinate the referral of players from clubs and Development Centres to Academies.
5 To establish a database of players, coaches and volunteers involved with local football initiatives
