A new programme that focuses on Multi Skills is being introduced to both schools and community clubs...and you could be part of it! Sport Wales’s vision is to get ‘every child hooked on sport for life’ our vision is to get ‘more people more active more often’. Multi-skills are built on these ideas and aims to improve children’s physical literacy & enhance their skill level so that they:
- Develop confidence & make choices
- Take part in sport more successfully
- Increase participation & improve performance.
Multi-skills puts a focus on child-centred learning to match the needs, abilities & interest of the child. It’s very much about the child’s stage rather than age. There is an increased emphasis on agility, balance & co-ordination (A, B, C’s) aiming to develop the child’s physical competence & fundamental skills, before transferring them in to a specific sport.
Multi-skills is aimed to achieve whole child development:
- Physical
- Social
- Emotional
- Communication
- Thinking
- Health & Well-being
- Sporting Attitudes.
Dragon Multi-skills will be the link between Play to Learn (Foundation Phase) & Dragon Sport Specific (Key Stage 2) where children will develop, progress, become more skilful & apply their skills to a specific sport.
