National Wetlands Centre Wales

For two decades, the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust’s reserve in Llanelli has been a haven for a huge variety of wildlife but now it’s more than twice the place it used to be.

That’s because over 60 hectares of lakes, ponds canals and other water features were added to the centre as part of the Millennium Coastal Park project.

Nestling at the eastern end of the Park, the National Wetland Centre Wales is acknowledged as Wales’ premier site for a host of different bird species. It’s a venue where people of all ages can get really close to nature and then find out all about it.

The serious birdwatcher and the visiting holidaymaker alike can enjoy the Centre. There is a series of hides carefully positioned to provide outstanding view’s of the centre’s wild birds but there are also many tame ducks, swans and geese wandering the grounds that will happily feed from a child’s hand.

There’s also a superb information and discovery centre, which includes interpretation panels, hands-on play equipment, educational material, a café/restaurant and a gift shop.
