The Machynys Peninsula has seen one of the most dramatic transformations in the entire Coastal Park Project. What was once one of the worst industrial black spots in Wales is now a golf course of world renown.
In addition to the fantastic championship course, the complex offers sumptuous spa and brasserie facilities in its multi-million pound clubhouse.
Despite only opening a few years ago the 7100 yards course is already considered a world-class venue and has played host to the Wales Ladies Championship of Europe.
Prior to the industrial revolution, Machynys was an island in the middle of the Loughor Estuary where once, as legend has it, there stood an ancient monastery that was linked to Gower by an underground tunnel.
The scene is very different today and golf pilgrims are now drawn to the peninsula to play the first Nicklaus-designed course in Wales.
Both the links-style golf course and the leisure facilities are open seven days a week to non-members.
A wide range of golf society, spa day packages and beauty treatments are available on request. Machynys also boasts exceptional practice facilities including a Welsh Golfing Union ‘Centre of Excellence’.
