- In 2007, there were 726 significant workplace injuries in Carmarthenshire .
- The rate of fatal and major injuries in firms employing fewer than 50 employees (small firms) is over twice the rate in firms employing more than 1000 people.
- About 60% of fatal injuries to workers occurred in construction, transport and storage , and in agriculture, forestry and fishing.
- Slips and trips, often resulting in broken bones, are the highest cause of major incidents. They account for 42% of major injuries to employees (local authority sectors) and half of all non-fatal injuries to members of the public.
- Stress-related illness is estimated to account for about 20% of reported cases of occupational ill health (about 500,000), with more new cases occurring every year.
