As you age it’s natural to start eating less because you will become less physically active and so your body will adapt and adjust your overall food intake accordingly.
But it is important to eat regularly, at least three times a day, and ensure that you eat 5 portions of fruit or vegetables.
As you get older you should eat:
plenty of foods rich in starch and fibre which are bread, rice, pasta, cereals and potatoes. |
Iron-rich foods such as red meat, peas, beans and lentils, oily fish, eggs, bread, green vegetables and breakfast cereals. |
Foods and drinks rich in vitamin c such as fruit, fruit juice, vegetables and potatoes. |
Foods containing folic acid such as green veg, brown rice, bread and breakfast cereals. |
Calcium-rich foods such as low fat dairy products such as milk, cheese and yogurt. |
