Who the service is for
The service is for people living in the community who may need assistance to continue to live independently, people living with dementia and their carers, people at risk of falling, vulnerable people leaving hospital and people living with chronic illnesses.

The service provided
A full Telecare (Assistive Technology) assessment is carried out to identify if Telecare is suitable, a tailored Telecare package is then designed to meet the person’s individual needs which may include sensor such as Smoke alarms, Co2 detectors, Door exit monitors and Bed occupancy monitors.

When the service is available
We aim to offer an assessment within 7 days; the Telecare package is installed on the same day as long as the home environment is suitable. The service user must have a telephone landline and a free electric socket within 5 meters of the telephone socket.

Free until March 2009 for those assessed and eligible for the service. The Fairer Charging policy is currently under review to take into account Assistive Technology.
