Who the service is for
Tai Cymdogaeth has a range of accommodation for people over 55. 

The service provided
Tai Cymdogaeth offer a specialist housing and management service for older people who want to live independently.
This development combines traditional sheltered housing with this unique model of support and home care.  The care and support staff are there to give extra care and support to help older people keep their independence.

Type of Accommodation
This scheme has specially designed self-contained flats (that is, they have their own kitchen, bathroom and private entrance). The properties are mostly one-bedroom flats with a limited number of two-bedroom flats.

When the service is available
Support is provided during normal office hours, with some flexibility to meet the needs of the service user. There are workers staffing the accommodation 24 hours a day for emergencies that arise outside of normal hours, and to give intensive packages of care and support.

How long the service can be used for
The service can be provided as long as there is a need for it. However, nursing care cannot be provided. The service also depends on whether the service user continues to be a Tai Cymdogaeth tenant.

Cost
The service user will need to pay a fee for the support they receive, although they may be able to claim financial help from Supporting People. The service provider will help the service user to claim Housing Benefit to cover the cost of the accommodation. If the person using the service does not receive Housing Benefit, they will need to pay the rent on the accommodation that is provided.
