Who the service is for
Tai Cymdogaeth has a range of accommodation for people over 55.
The service provided
Tai Cymdogaeth offers a specialist housing and management service for older people who want to live independently.
Ammanford, Llandybie and Llanelli
Type of Accommodation
The properties are self-contained units (that is, they have their own kitchen, bathroom and private entrance), mostly made up of one-bedroom flats with a limited number of two-bedroom flats and bungalows.
When the service is available
Support is provided during normal office hours, with some flexibility to meet the needs of the service user. An out-of-hours on-call service is available for emergencies that arise outside of normal office hours.
How long the service can be used for
The service can be provided as long as there is a need for it, as long as tenants keep their tenancy with Tai Cymdogaeth. Nursing care cannot be provided.
How to access the service
People can access the service through the Carmarthenshire Common Register. Tai Cymdogaeth, along with Carmarthenshire County Council, has a points-based waiting-list system in place to decide who to give priority to. People aged 60 and over are accepted. There is no upper age limit.
The service user may need to pay for the support they receive. The service provider will help the service user to claim Housing Benefit to cover the cost of the accommodation. If the person using the service does not receive Housing Benefit, they will need to pay the rent on the accommodation that is provided. Please contact the service provider for more information about this.
This service also receives funding from the Supporting People Grant, which is paid direct to the service provider by Carmarthenshire County Council’s Supporting People section.
