Who the service is for
The service is for older people aged over 55 years in the Carmarthenshire area.

The service provided
Bro Myrddin Housing Association currently receives Supporting People funding for a number of schemes which provide a 24-hour community alarm system. This covers costs for maintaining and testing the system each week and for providing an effective window-cleaning service.

Bro Myrddin Housing Association uses the Careline Service provided by Carmarthenshire County Council to provide the community alarm service to its tenants.

Location
There are schemes throughout Carmarthenshire.

Type of Accommodation
Self-contained flats or bungalows (that is, they have their own kitchen, bathroom and private entrance).

When the service is available
The service provides 24-hour support.

How long the service can be used for
The service can be provided as long as there is a need for it.

How to access the service
People access the service through the Carmarthenshire Housing Choice Register. The service gives priority to people who have the highest number of points on the Housing waiting list.  Although the only current condition for accepting applications is the age of the person applying. Cost
The service user may need to pay for the support they receive. The service provider will help the service user to claim Housing Benefit to cover the cost of the accommodation. If the person using the service does not receive Housing Benefit, they will need to pay the rent on the accommodation that is provided. This service also receives funding from the Supporting People Grant, which is paid direct to the service provider by Carmarthenshire County Council’s Supporting People section.
