People who receive social care services will need to have a financial assessment to work out what, if anything, they can afford to pay. The council has a flat rate charge for:
- Meals at day care establishments
- Community Meals
- Laundry services
Everyone who uses these services pays the set charge.
The local authoirty also has a charge for:
- Domiciliary Care
The charge for these are determined by a financial assessment (means test) to calculate how much a person can afford to pay. The outcome of the financial assessment will determine the exact charge but in any event the maimum you will be asekd to pay is £50 per week with some people paying much less and many having services free.
Financial assessments are carried out by the Fairer Charging Assessment Team who will also help make sure that you are receiving all of the benefits that you are entitled to and help you complete any forms that are required.
You can choose not to have a financial assessment if you wish, but this means that you may have to pay the full cost of your care.
