A learning disability is one of the most common forms of disability in the UK. It is also the least understood. There are approximately 1.4 million people in the UK who have a learning disability.
A learning disability can happen at birth or because of an illness or injury during childhood. People with a learning disability may need help with learning and remembering; help with everyday life and may also have difficulty in communicating.
Our aim is to offer support to people to enable them to live as independently as possible. We recognise that each individual is unique and that everyone has their own particular circumstances and needs. Specialist teams will assess peoples' needs to identify their strengths and difficulties, so that tailored support services can be arranged.
Our services include:
Day Opportunities- we have two specialist centres that provide a service for adults with learning and physical disabilities in Carmarthen and Llanelli, and one specialist centre in Ammanford that provides a service for adults with learning disabilities. We have three additional units offering skills development, supported training and employment opportunities. Click here for further information.
