Johnstown Centre is located in Johnstown within easy reach of Carmarthen town centre. The centre  specialises in providing a service for adults with learning and physical disabilities. The Centre is equipped and accessible for wheelchair users.

Facilities

There is a fully fitted kitchen, which is used to teach domestic skills and for service users to participate in cookery sessions.

Music Therapy is an important part of  peoples’ lives and is particularly useful and enjoyable for people with learning disabilities.  Music stimulates the senses and can also be used for relaxation  purposes.

The centre has a Sensory Room fitted with  specialist  equipment, which can be used for both stimulation and relaxation purposes.  

Computer Suite — with adaptations and software designed for people with learning disabilities, in order to facilitate learning, sign language, new skills and for creative art.

Total Communication

Good communication is essential.  All staff are trained in Total Communication which uses sign Language ‘Signalong’, objects of reference, use of signs on doors and group activities.

Community Participation

Participation in the community is encouraged, and visits to Ten Pin Bowling; cinema; sailing, local scenic sites and shops etc are regularly arranged.
