Carmarthenshire Carers Strategy and Action Plan 2006-2009 (Current Until 2011)

It is estimated that carers save health and social services £5.7 billion every year in Wales. In Carmarthenshire, there are nearly 22,000 unpaid carers, which equates to a saving of £400 million every year. Carers must be recognised as partners in the delivery of services to vulnerable, sick or disabled people in our communities and be respected for their contribution.

The three-year span of this strategy (now extended to 5 years) will see carers recognised as an important part of health and social care in Carmarthenshire, the action plan identifies where we are and sets out to build a foundation that gives carers the information and support they need.
