Bathing Water 

During the bathing season (May - September) weekly bacteriological samnples are taken by the Local Authority from 1 non-designated bathing beach, located in Burry Port.

The Environment Agency also take weekly samples from the 2 designated bathing beaches at Pembrey and Pendine.

The results showing the water quality at each location are updated weekly, and the key below shows whether the water quality meets the required standards in the Bathing Water Directives (76/160/EEC and 2006/7/EC).

Key:

excellent

Excellent water quality means the weekly sample meets the following EC Guideline standards:
( 500 total coliform per 100ml of water and 100 faecal coliforms per 100ml of water)

good

 

Good water quality means the weekly sample meets the following EC Mandatory standards:
(10,000 total coliforms per 100ml of water and 2,000 faecal coliforms per 100ml of water)

poor

Poor water quality indicates the sample has failed to meet the standards required for Good Quality Waters.
