Carmarthenshire heritage is rich and varied. Discover it at our friendly, local museums. We have something for everyone.
Each of our six museums and galleries has a distinct story to tell.
The County Museum at Abergwili covers 50,000 years of human history and celebrates our glorious landscape. At Parc Howard find out why Llanelli became the tinplate capital of the world. Kidwelly Industrial Museum is the best example of an old tinplate works still to be seen.
The Museum of Speed triumphs a heroic era of record-breaking cars and motorbike races on Pendine’s sweeping sands. The galleries at Carmarthen and Ammanford are about these two important towns. The Romans founded Carmarthen. Ammanford grew in the 19th century to meet the needs of the tinplate and coal industries.
Entry to all our museums is free.
