As part of the continued aim to promote openness and transparency, so that it is accountable to local people and worthy of their trust, the Authority is publishing the Council's Corporate Strategy.
In an organisation such as ours - which is responsible for a diverse range of services, employing around 9,000 people and with an annual turnover of over £400 million – a strong sense of direction and a clear understanding of priorities is essential.
The strategy sets out five clear themes to our work, and that of our partners:
- A Better Place... Environment - improving the world around us, today and for tomorrow
- Opening Doors... Lifelong Learning - helping everyone to achieve their potential, from childhood to old age
- Feeling Fine... Health and Well Being - tackling the causes of ill health by looking at life in the round
- Investment and Innovation... Regeneration - building resources, creating opportunities and offering support
- Feeling Secure... Safer communities - offering security, tackling fear and crime, helping us to look out for each other.
In order to ensure the Council delivers on the promises made in it’s Corporate Strategy an annual Improvement Plan is published together with an Annual Report. The Improvement Plan which is also aligned to the Integrated Community Strategy is monitored quarterly.
