Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives you the right to access recorded information held by public authorities such as Carmarthenshire County Council. The Act requires the Council to make a large amount of information routinely available to the public. We have therefore adopted the Information Commissioner’s model Publication Scheme.

Most of the information we publish under this scheme can be accessed on this website free of charge. Clicking on the headings below will provide links to the information we publish.

Where the information is made available by other means, such as inspecting a register, details are provided below on how to access it.

Making a request for information

If you find that the information you require is not already published, then you can make a request to the Council under the Act. Click on the headings below for more information.

How can I make a request?

A request normally has to be made in writing. It should be addressed direct to the Council and must include a name and an address (postal or email) for a response. The information being sought should also be described clearly and as precisely as possible.

A request can be submitted in a number of ways:

  • By letter

Information & Data Protection Officer,
County Hall
Carmarthen
SA31 1JP

Once we receive a request, and if we need it, clarification to enable us to search for the information that has been requested, we are required to provide a response within 20 working days.

Will I always get the information I ask for?

Can I request information about myself?

Are there charges for providing information?
