Who the service is for
Careline provides a service for older, disabled and vulnerable people in the community, giving them and their families the peace of mind of knowing that help is always available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year.

Careline is a 24-hour emergency call centre which will alert the relevant people if you need help.

Type of Accommodation
Anyone can get an alarm, and our service is not restricted only to elderly or disabled people. You can apply for an alarm if you are vulnerable and think that an alarm could make you feel more secure.

People can use the service 24 hours a day, all year round.

People can use the service for as long as they need it.

Cost
How much the alarm costs depends on whether you lease it from us or buy it. 

Leasing your alarm
If you own your home or are a tenant of a housing association or private landlord, the cost of leasing an alarm from us changes each year. The price is roughly £32.75 plus VAT every three months. (If you are disabled or suffering from long-term ill health, you may not have to pay VAT.) We will supply, install/remove, maintain, and monitor your alarm 24/7 for that quarterly fee.

If you are a council tenant, ask us about the cost of having an alarm as prices can vary depending on your circumstances.

Buying your alarm
The cost of buying your alarm from us can change each year. The price is £129 plus VAT. (If you are disabled or suffering from long-term ill health, you may not have to pay VAT.) When you have bought your alarm, you will need to pay us a fee of £13.80 every three months for us to monitor your alarm.

The price of the alarm includes the cost of it being programmed and installed by our officers, and the cost of a pendant alarm. Your new alarm unit will be covered by a three-year manufacturer guarantee.

Careline PLUS
For some residents of Carmarthenshire there may be an alternative service available, called Careline PLUS, this Telecare service provided to individuals on an assessed basis is free for those that qualify.   This is subject to change from time to time.  Please contact us for further information.
