As an Authority, we value our current and potential suppliers – recognising that business is about people – talking to them, listening to them, understanding them and acting on what they say
We always look for the best possible value for money for our taxpayers whilst operating in an open, transparent and non-discriminatory manner. This does not mean that we buy on price alone – quality is always important. We balance what we pay against the quality we need and the impact of what and where we buy
We encourage all categories of business organisations to bid for our work and we appreciate the prospect of tendering for business with a large organisation like CCC can sometimes appear to be a daunting task for suppliers
In order to throw light on the process, we have produced a variety of bi-lingual procurement literature which we hope will provide suppliers with appropriate information

Over the past 3 years, we have met in excess of 1500 SME’s, Third Sector Organisations and Minority Groups via Procurement Surgery Sessions, Meet the Buyer Days and other events which allow the opportunity to engage with potential suppliers of all sectors and sizes
The success of the Procurement Surgery Session (PSS) initiative has evolved to include Sector Specific Procurement Surgery Sessions which are organised specifically to cater for forthcoming contracts that are due to be advertised in approximately 12/18 months time – the aim being to give potential suppliers an insight to what is required by the Council whilst giving businesses the opportunity to feedback information and ideas that can help develop tender specification. Ultimately, this can help the Council in packaging their contracts appropriately and intelligently
We aim to continue developing the Procurement Surgery Sessions concept and adopt other new initiatives which allow us to engage with suppliers such as How to Tender Workshops as well as training the Council’s employees to recognise the potential benefits of trading with such organisations
Businesses are advised to view our website (www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk) along with the sell2wales website (www.sell2wales.co.uk) with regard to updates on Procurement Surgery Sessions and other events to be held that will provide suppliers with opportunities to trade with the Council
