In order to increase local involvement, new local Community Networks have been developed to bring communities, Council members, Town & Community Councils and partner agencies together.
They enable Carmarthenshire County Council and its Partners to connect with and listen to communities, whilst giving communities their opportunity to influence the delivery and planning of services in their area.
The Networks, which were launched in the autumn of 2004, are the ‘new look’ area forums and are held on a quarterly basis. The meetings are informal and encourage people to exchange ideas and opinions and to learn from one another.
Why should you get involved?
- You can be part of the wider “Carmarthenshire Partnership” which is taking partnership working forward.
- You will have up-to-date information on issues important to your communities.
- It’s not a talking shop – The networks have been able to influence actions in local areas.
- Some issues raised at the meetings have been acted upon straight away.
- Community representatives have been appointed as Vice/Joint-Chairs on the networks but to make the Networks a success, they need your support to attend and promote these meetings on a local level and Community Network Chairs and Vice/Joint-Chairs.
- The Networks are co-ordinated by the Community Planning Team, who are based in the Council’s Chief Executive’s Department.
