Draft Sustainability Strategy

We have recently developed a draft housing sustainability strategy to ensure that the improvements we make to our tenants homes through the Carmarthenshire Homes Standard Programme make our tenants homes and communities sustainable for generations to come.

The strategy looks at sustainability under ten themes :

• Water
• Energy
• Our Communities
• Transport
• Pollution
• Management
• Health and Wellbeing
• Training and Development
• Materials
• Waste

Each theme will identify a range of actions that we will need to address to ensure that we :

• Improve the energy performance of our homes
• Reduce carbon dioxide emissions and limit our impact on climate change
• Introduce renewable technology
• Improve health and well being in your communities
• Encourage community activity and engagement
• Minimise waste and encourage recycling initiatives
• Conserve the natural environment
• Use sustainable materials
• Create employment and training opportunities
• Help create communities where people want to live and work, now and in the future
The draft strategy is currently at the consultation phase. We need your views and opinions to ensure that our homes and communities reflect your needs today and in the future.
