Housing Accreditation Scheme
accrediation scheme logo

The Carmarthenshire Accommodation Accreditation Scheme is designed to recognise and promote good quality and well managed private sector homes in the County.

Landlords are encouraged to apply for accreditation of properties. Landlords must comply with a set of “Accreditation Standards” which covers minimum standards expected in relation to the management of the property and its physical condition.
The council assess whether the standards are met before issuing an “Accreditation Certificate”.

Will it be difficult or expensive to meet the standards?

Not necessarily. The standards require that the conditions of the property are fair and reasonable, and not likely to present any risk to a person occupying the property. The standards are not onerous to achieve as many of the standards reflect minimum legal requirements.

What are the benefits?

  • Discount with some local suppliers
  • Recognition that landlord has high standard, well managed housing
  • Landlord listing on council literature and website to indicate accreditation of properties
  • Listed by local colleges for accommodation for students in Carmarthenshire.
  • Being able to use the scheme logo on stationary indicating that their properties meet the standards
  • Qualifying for referrals of tenants through our Home Choice Scheme
  • Encourages good behaviour through the “Tenant Code”

Does it cost anything to become accredited?

No, there is no fee to join the scheme. Many properties will already meet the minimum standards of the scheme, so there will be no costs at all.
