The Enforcement of Health and Safety Law is split between the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the local authority, Carmarthenshire County Council.  

The statutory functions of the Health and Safety officers include:

• Routine programmed health and safety inspections.
• Investigation of health, safety and welfare complaints from employees and members of the public.
• Investigation of accidents.
